Royal Wedding Street Parties
Time running out for applications
(Date of issue: Tuesday, 22 March 2011)
Time is running out for local Carlisle residents and community
groups to apply for permission to hold a Royal Wedding street
party.
To make the process as simple as possible, a user-friendly
application form has been produced and is available from the Civic
Centre’s Customer Contact Centre or online at the city council’s
website – www.carlisle.gov.uk
Advice is also on hand from Carlisle City Council, as depending
on the scale of the planned event and if live music will be
included in the festivities, some permissions – such as for
licensing notices for temporary events – may not be required. The
smaller the event, the less formalities will be required.
Carlisle City Council is advising anyone interested in arranging
an event or street party to contact them soon to ensure that they
get the correct advice and if necessary, submit an application form
in time.
Carlisle City Council spokesperson said:
“Arranging a street party can be daunting and we want to make
sure that local residents get the best advice possible. The scale
of an event can impact on the amount of permissions that are
required, such as road closures, licensing and food safety.
However, in most cases if the event is small scale, only the
minimum will be needed. Please call us if you need any help or
advice.”
If you’re interested in staging a Royal Wedding Street Party,

The cut off date for applications is 11 April 2011.
