(Date of issue: Tuesday, 22 March 2011)

A late night Skate Event will be held at The Sands Centre this Saturday (26 March), between 4.30pm and 10pm.

Organised by Carlisle City Council , working in partnership with The Sands Centre, the event is designed for children and young people of all ages and abilities. If you do not know how to skate, then here is the opportunity to learn how!

The evening is divided into three sections:

  • 4.30pm – 6.30pm: Coaching and free play activities provided by Carlisle City Council ‘s play team
  • 7pm – 8.30pm: BMX Session
  • 8.30pm – 10pm: Skate and Blading Session

The event it FREE and people just need to sign themselves in (all under 18s need to be signed in by a parent/guardian aged 18 plus). This is a great opportunity for families, children and young people to get together and learn a new sport and have some fun!

Chris Baird, one of the organisers of Spring In2 Skate, said:

“This type of event gives children and young people a chance to try out new things and make new friends, as well as participating in active sports. The last event was a huge success with more 100 attendees and we hope to continue to provide these sessions in the near future.”

Another skate and BMX event is due to be held at The Sands Centre on Friday, 6 May, times to be confirmed.
