Carlisle Mayor appointed
Carlisle City Councillor Jacquelyne Geddes has been appointed
Carlisle’s first citizen for the Municipal year 2008/2009.
Councillor Geddes has taken on the Mayoral role after serving a
year as Deputy Mayor to former Mayor, Councillor Elizabeth
Mallinson. Sworn in at the Mayor Making Ceremony on Monday, 19
May in the City Council Chamber, the Conservative Member for
Stanwix Urban recited the ancient Mayoral Oath giving her
allegiance to the city and its citizens.
A long-standing member of the City Council, Councillor Geddes
first became a City Council representative in 1993.
Councillor William Graham was sworn in as the Deputy Mayor and
Councillor Mike Mitchelson was also confirmed as the Leader of the
Council.
