Car park improvements planned
(Date of issue: Friday, 8 May 2009)
Plans to improve the layout of Talkin Tarn’s car park will soon
get underway.
In addition to improving how the spaces are set out and
therefore the safety of car park users, coach parking and provision
for blue badge holders will also be included.
To reflect the country park’s local environment, natural
materials will be used. Recycled sandstone will be inlayed into the
gravel surface to help show how the spaces are set out. Grassed
areas with a timber edging will also be incorporated within the
overall layout to help de-lineate the parking areas.
The car park improvements are part of the City Council’s
continued investment in the country park’s facilities and will
continue to ensure that they meet the needs of visitors and
residents.
Plans setting out the parking layout will go on display at the
country park today (Friday, 8 May). Anyone wanting any additional
information is invited to call into the site office, behind the
tearoom or telephone 016977 3129.
Cllr Ray Bloxham, Portfolio holder for Environment and
Infrastructure, said:
“Making the car park easier and safer to use are
our priorities. We want visitors to have the best possible
facilities and the improvement works will further enhance the
country park. Natural materials will be used and a new layout, with
improved access and signage, will make the area safer for drivers
and pedestrians.”
Work is due to start next Monday (11 May) and is expected to be
finished by the end of this month.
