Carlisle Mayor appointed

Carlisle City Councillor Barry Earp has been appointed
Carlisle’s first citizen for the Municipal year 2011/2012.
Councillor Earp has taken on the Mayoral role after serving a
year as Deputy Mayor to former Mayor, Mrs Mary Styth. Sworn in at
today’s Mayor Making Ceremony (Monday, 23 May) in the City Council
Chamber, the Conservative Member for Wetheral recited the ancient
Mayoral Oath giving his allegiance to the city and its
citizens.
A long-standing member of the City Council, Councillor Earp
first became a City Council representative in 2003.
Councillor David Wilson was sworn in as the Deputy Mayor and
Councillor Mike Mitchelson was also confirmed as the Leader of the
Council.
