Local charities benefit from record-breaking £159,000 charity

Carlisle’s Mayoral Charity Fund has raised a record-breaking
£159, 200 for local charities.
Carlisle Mayor, Mary Styth will present the six chosen charities
with their cheques tomorrow (Wednesday, 11 May) at 7pm at the Civic
Centre building. A variety of events have been held during Styth’s
2010/2011 Mayoral year, including a Thriller Black Tie Dinner, a
skydive and a Magical Las Vegas evening at the Andalusian. The
Mayor of Carlisle, Mary Styth, said:
“I would like to thank all the businesses and individuals for
their wonderful support during my Mayoral year. With support from
my Charity Committee, our fundraising events have resulted in more
than £158,000 being raised.
“As I reach the end of my Mayoral year, I can reflect on the
tremendous goodwill and kindness of local businesses and
individuals. I’d to thank them all for their wonderful support,
which at times, has been quite overwhelming.”

Carlisle Youth Zone (Charity nominated at start
of Mayoral Year)
The Living Well Trust (Charity nominated at
start of Mayoral Year)
The Henry Lonsdale Trust (Charity nominated at
start of Mayoral Year)
The Richard Rose Morton Academy (For Music and
Drama)
Carlisle Triathlon Club (Sponsorship of Mr Phil
Whitehead at World Championships in Nevada, USA, in November)
Carlisle Mencap (For The Grace Little
Centre)
