City Council asks local youngsters to have their say
(Date of issue: Wednesday, 5 November 2008)
To coincide with National Youth Work Week (1 – 7 November),
Carlisle City Council is asking local families to see what positive
benefits play and youth work is having on local youngsters.
As part of the City Council’s newly developed FACE 5-19
Programme, regular outreach drop-in sessions are held for local
youngsters across the district. Funded by the City Council and the
Big Lottery Fund, the events are free and participants can come and
go as they please, and are free to choose what activity they wish
to do. Activities include graffiti table, sports and art &
crafts.
This week’s sessions encourage parents, carers, residents and
children and young people to come along to the sessions to meet the
City Council’s team and see what positive benefits play and youth
work sessions can offer children and young people.
In addition to this, to coincide with the 11 MILLION Takeover
Day (Friday, 7 November), a special event will be held at the Civic
Centre between 4pm and 5pm. The City Council’s IT section, youth
workers and a group of children and young people will be to look at
the City Council’s web pages to see how they could be improved.
Suggestions will be used to improve the web pages to meet the needs
of children and young people.
The timetable for the rest of the week is:
- Thursday, 6 November
4.30pm - 7pm FACE 5-19 drop in session at Millriggs, Corby
Hill
- Friday, 7 November 4pm -
5pm - children and young people meet with City Council’s IT
Services at the Civic Centre to discuss the council’s website
