Winter Weather

(Date of issue: Monday, 29 November 2010)

Carlisle City Council is advising local residents that refuse and recycling services may be affected due to the recent snow fall and icy conditions.

Residents are asked to continue to put out their wheeled refuse bins, purple sacks and recycling sacks and boxes on their usual collection dates.

Every effort will be made to carry on with collections as planned, however the refuse and recycling vehicles may find it difficult to access some urban and rural properties.

If collections are not possible, residents are advised to put refuse/recycling out on their next scheduled collection date. Any excess waste or recycling will be collected on that day.

Homeless / Rough Sleeping - If you see anyone sleeping rough or if you know anyone is at risk of having to sleep rough during the extreme cold weather please contact Carlisle City Council’s Homelessness Services. For further details, contact 01228 817499 (during office hours) and 01228 511061 (out of office hours).

Carlisle City Council is also continuing to replenish grit bins within the Carlisle area. Anyone wishing to report any empty grit bins or boxes, should call 01228 817200 or email customerservices@carlisle.gov.uk
