Big Tidy Up event planned in Petteril Valley
(Date of issue: Friday, 24 October 2008)
Local residents are being asked to muck in and help clean-up a
local countryside area next Saturday (1 November).
As part of the Keep Britain Tidy nationwide campaign, The Big Tidy Up, Carlisle City
Council’s countryside section has joined forces with members of
Petteril South Community Association, Eden Rivers Trust and local
youth and Brownie groups to organise the community clean-up in a
Petteril Valley countryside site.
All are welcome to come down and help on the day. The tidy-up
will be held between 10am and 1pm and those wanting to take part
should meet at the end of Woodsghyll Drive, off Dale End Road.
Gloves, litter pickers and bin bags will be provided.
As a thank you for to those who take part, free refreshments
will be provided by the community association in the Church Hall in
Harraby.
The litter park is one of many measures the City Council has
taken to encourage residents and visitors to keep Carlisle Cleaner,
Greener and Safer. For further information about the clear-up
event, please contact the City Council on 01228 618552.
