Junior Tennis Tournament

Children from around the county will be taking part in a series
of junior tennis tournaments this October half-term.
Starting today (Monday, 26 October), the competitions have been
organised by Carlisle City Council and will be held at the Bitts
Park tennis courts.
Split over three days, the following events will be held on the
following dates and are all fully subscribed:
- Monday, 26 October: 10am-12noon – Mini-Red group (children aged
8 years and under);
- Monday, 26 October: 12noon-3pm – Mini-Orange group (children
aged 9 years and under);
- Tuesday, 27 October: 10am-12noon – Mini-Green group (children
aged 10 years and under); and
- Wednesday, 28 October: 10am-3pm – full court tennis (children
aged 11+ years).
Cllr Ray Bloxham, Portfolio holder for Environment and
Infrastructure, said:
"This is the first time we have held a junior
tennis tournament and we looking forward to welcoming some budding
tennis players from around the county. Organised as part of our
tennis development plan, it is an opportunity for local youngsters
to compete against each other and put their training into
practise."
Everyone taking part in the tournament will receive a
certificate and the overall winners will get a trophy. The event
has been supported by the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association).
