Continental Food Fair
Last minute market planned
A Continental Market will be staged in Carlisle's city centre
between this Thursday (27 September) and Sunday (30 September).
Arranged at short notice after Market Place Europe Ltd, the
market organiser, had an event cancelled in Leicester, the popular
open-air event will be welcomed back by Carlisle City Council this
weekend.
Around 40 stalls will make up the market and will be trading
between 10am and 4pm each day.
Carlisle City Council last welcomed the continental traders in
August when they staged their annual Food Fair. Thousands of people
visited the four-day event.
Alan Hartwell from Market Place Europe Ltd said:
When our plans changed at the last minute we
immediately thought of coming to Carlisle instead. We have always
been welcomed with open-arms when we've visited the city and all
our traders are looking forward to pitching their stalls in the
city centre this weekend.
The Continental Market, arranged by the Market Place Europe Ltd,
will includes stalls from the far reaches of Europe. Goods will
include charcuterie specialist meats from Corsica, freshly baked
French Apple and Fruit sponges, a Spanish trader cooking authentic
paella, and wine and beer merchants selling quality Bordeaux.
Green fingered shoppers will not be disappointed either, as the
market will include the 'Flying Dutchman', Dick van de Wardt, one
of the largest plant, flower and bulb specialists from Holland.
