Carlisle's Mayor, Cllr Mrs Elizabeth Mallinson will welcome the hundreds of cyclists taking part in North Cumbria's premier cycling event this Sunday (2 September).
The City's First Citizen will meet the 800 strong participants at their 'feed station' at the Moot Hall, Brampton. The first riders are expected to arrive at around 11am. They will then set off on the next leg of the event at 1pm.
The 2nd Cumberland Challenge is a 105-mile route, which starts and finishes in Brampton and traces a figure of eight around the North Pennines, taking in Hadrian's Wall, and parts of the Scottish Borders.
The challenging Border City Wheelers ride includes 2,900m of climbing and is open to anyone aged over 18 years of age. Those taking part will be raising funds for the Air Ambulance and the Eden Valley Hospice through entry fees and additional sponsorship.
