Free Advice for Businesses
Cumbria Health and Safety Liaison Group are offering free Health
and Safety Awareness training at a special half-day event, starting
at 09.00am on Friday 26 October, at the University of Cumbria
Conference Centre, Newton Rigg Campus.
The event will include advice covering slips, trips, and falls,
just some of the topics being discussed at the half day event. The
awareness training is being organised by the Cumbria Health and
Safety Liaison Group made up of the Health and Safety Executive
(HSE) and Cumbria's six District Councils. There will be exhibits
from relevant companies sharing information and a series of four
20-minute presentations from key speakers, covering:
- Slips
- Asbestos
- Work at Height
- Musculoskeletal Disorders (Manual Handling)
Emma Brass, Secretary of the Cumbria Health and Safety Liaison
Group said:
Slips, trips, back pain from manual handling
injuries and falls from height cost British industry millions of
pounds each year and that's not counting the incalculable human
cost.
This event is an opportunity for local businesses to receive
free training and hear from national speakers, ask questions and
discuss issues with other businesses as well as speak to Health and
Safety officers from around Cumbria. The exhibition will cover a
variety of topics from occupational asthma and dermatitis to the
new Noise at Work legislation and Smokefree legislation.
There is no charge for the training, and each delegate will
receive information to take away including a CD-Rom of the
presentations and relevant information. For more information
