Date of issue: Wednesday, 16 September 2009
Last week’s Carlisle City Council Jobs Fair (Friday,11 Sept) is
being hailed as a great success after more than 1,000 people made a
visit to the free event.
Around 60 stalls and over 35 employers, either in person or
represented by a recruitment agency representing public, retail,
manufacturing, construction, technical and caring sectors, were in
attendance throughout the day. All were actively looking to fill
current vacancies. The event resulted in:
- Over 3,000 application forms being handed out;
- 100 interviews being arranged;
- 750 enquiries on training courses being sought; and
- 200 enquiries being made to support agencies.
Cllr Marilyn Bowman, Portfolio holder for Economy, said:
"Evaluation forms completed on the day
demonstrated over 90% satisfaction rate with the event and its
usefulness. The feedback from employers was also extremely
positive, some employers attended for the first time making a
commitment to attend future events and to link into community based
recruitment activities. Many employers were extremely impressed
with the high calibre of people looking for work."
A CV workshop was delivered throughout the day and more than 100
people received direct help on the day with their own CV.
