Take a stroll around the park this autumn

A series of free autumn walks has been arranged for local
Carlisle residents.
Walking is one of the best ways to improve fitness and maximise
health benefits. The opportunity to take the first steps to a
healthier lifestyle has been put in place by Carlisle City
Council.
As part of the free programme, there is a chance to take part in
Short Park Health Walks, held on Mondays and Wednesdays, every week
except on Bank Holidays. These are held every Monday, 2.30pm, at
Chance’s Park (meet at Morton Community Centre) and every
Wednesday, 2pm at Melbourne Park (meet outside Lakeland Gate Hotel
car park, Warwick Road).
The Walking your Way to Health is held on Wednesdays, starting
at 10.30am. Events planned this autumn include:
- 23rd September - Melbourne Park. Meet at the Lakeland Gateway
Hotel car park, Warwick Road. This will take an hour to
complete.
- 21st October - Carlisle Cemetery. Meet at Richardson Street
entrance. This will take three quarters an hour to complete.
- 4th November - Wetheral. Meet at The Wheatsheaf Inn. This will
take an hour to complete.
- 18th November - Thursby. Meet at the village green. This will
take an hour to complete.
- Tuesday Trundle, walking longer and further, held on Tuesdays,
starting at 10am:
- 15th September - Coombs Wood. Meet on the bridge in Armathwaite
village, roadside parking is available. This will take around two
and a half hours to complete.
- 29th September - Castle Carrock Reservoir. Meet on the village
green in Castle Carrock, roadside parking is available. This will
take two hours to complete.
- 13th October - Gilsland and the River Irthing. Meet in the car
park beside Gilsland School. This will take two and three quarters
of an hour to complete.
