Kingstown Big Tidy Up – volunteers needed
Date of issue: Wednesday 15 September 2010
Local families are being urged to support a Big Tidy Up litter
pick on Saturday, 25 September.
McDonalds and Carlisle City Council have joined forces to clear
up parts of the Kingstown Industrial Estate and are asking
residents and regular visitors to the McDonalds store to give a
helping hand.
The community clear-up will start at 9.30am and will continue on
until 11am. Anyone wanted to take part, should meet at the
McDonalds store on Grearshill Road.
As an added incentive, face painting and free Happy Meals will
be available for the youngsters taking part.
Cllr Ray Bloxham, Portfolio holder for Local Environment,
said:
“Litter is one of the major issues for local
residents and we want to work alongside local businesses and
communities to try and stamp it out as much as we can. The Big Tidy
Up events provides us with the opportunity to work with partners
and residents to tackle the problem and make a big difference to
the local environment.”
Litter picking equipment, including protective clothing and
gloves will be available for those taking part in the event.
Cyd Christie, Manager of McDonalds Kingstown said:
“These type of events have proved successful in
the past and we hope that local families come out in force and
support the Big Tidy Up. There’s rewards on offer to those who take
part, so come along and provide a helping hand.”
