  • make some graffiti walls to do graffiti on
  • make everyone happy
  • implement more fairs to increase revenue for Carlisle City Council

If James became Young mayor, he would:

  • make Carlisle recycle more
  • make sure that every school has good equipment
  • have free clubs where if you were angry you could punch a punch bag for a while to calm down
  • have more bins because people are dumping there rubbish on the streets

James loves Carlisle because:

  • There are lots of sporty clubs
  • It is a good looking city
  • It has some lovely parks and it takes care of them
  • It is only 45 minutes from the beautiful Lake District

Slogan: Vote for me and I’ll guarantee Carlisle will be a safer place for you and me.

Jessica would like to implement the following policies, if she became Young Mayor:

  • make Carlisle as happy and as healthy as can be.
  • try to combat pollution issues including introducing a litter scheme
  • Highlight and increase awareness of child obesity and what we can do to reduce this
  • Alert people to the dangers of knife crime
  • Reduce the speed of cars.

Jessica feels that she would be a good young mayor because she is loyal, enthusiastic, always willing, good honoured, friendly, active alert, determined and not only that but she can be very bold and is not afraid anything. Jessica would listen to everybody’s ideas and always look on the bright side of life.

Jessica loves Carlisle, although at the minute, we aren’t as tidy and as friendly as can be and many people say ‘hey it’s time we made a difference’, and one day I’m sure we will.

Slogan:  Small steps make big changes

Rockcliffe C of E School

Candidate: Elizabeth Emerson

Elizabeth would like to be Young Mayor because it would give her the chance to help other young people in Carlisle and give them a chance to have their say. She believes that children usually don’t get the chance to have their say.

If Elizabeth were Young Mayor she would introduce a youth passport which would give under 14's free entry to sports and educational activities. She would also work to encourage all primary schools to open their playgrounds in the evenings and at weekends so that children could play safely and live healthier lives.

Elizabeth loves Carlisle because it is her hometown. Everyone is helpful and friendly. There are lots of things for people to do and you feel safe wherever you are.

Slogan:  Vote for Liz – letting children have their say!

Stanwix Primary School

Candidate: James Fisher

James would like to become Young Mayor because he believes that he can make a difference. He knows Carlisle is a great place to live  believes that his policies would make Carlisle an even better and safer place to live, a city for all to be proud of.

Carlisle is known as The Great Border City. James believes that he would make a great Young Mayor, because he has the determination, drive and vision to implement his policies.

If James became Young Mayor he would like to:

  • Make it law to wear cycle helmets.
  • Ban chewing gum in public places.
  • Set up a shelter to provide food, warmth and temporary shelter for homeless people.
  • Organise an entertainment facility for all, providing a venue where adults, teenagers and children can socialise and partake in activities which they may not otherwise have the opportunity to do. E.g. Book, game, DVD and CD exchange schemes, access to computers and games consoles, such as X-box or Wii, Singstar competitions, air hockey, table tennis and pool tables and a venue to hold gigs for up and coming bands.
  • Utilise a current historical building by creating a theatre in the Old Lonsdale Cinema, thus improving the aesthetics of a main route into the city centre and providing a much needed cultural facility for the residents of Carlisle and those who visit it.
  • Bring to life for young people, Carlisle’s rich history through interactive  tours of the city and it’s historical sites.

James loves Carlisle because of the

  • The fantastic Fire Show at Bitts Park.
  • The wonderful green park areas and the city centre floral displays.
  • The city centre Christmas lights and displays.
  • The brilliant sporting facilities such as the tennis dome, Sheepmount, Sands centre, The Pools, Swifts and the golf driving range.
