Building Maintenance
|
The Council maintains a number of properties and facilities:
- Council properties (including Civic Centre, Bousteads Grassing
etc)
- Public toilets
- Sheepmount changing facilities
- Monuments and statues
Maintenance includes planned and reactive repairs to the
properties, including joinery, plastering, bricklaying, roofing,
plumbing and painting work. Cleaning of the Council's buildings
including the Civic Centre and public toilets.

Integrates the maintenance of property with asset management,
and provides building management and janitorial support via the
Civic Centre keepers. |

Some of the facilities provided are rarely if ever used. This
means funding is poorly utilised leading to hardship in other
areas. An example of this are the platforms lift which are
positioned where there are one or two steps. They have a counter
for number of uses. At servicing time this counter often shows no
use of only one or two uses – often attributed to maintenance or
servicing.

Following consultation, 1 less toilet than originally planned is
to close. A staggered approach to the closures has been adopted
meaning not all toilets will close in 2011/12.
