Transparency
Background
The government outlined its commitment to the transparency
agenda in the
coalition agreement (external link).
The government has asked councils to publish the following
information:
We will ensure that all data published by Carlisle City Council
is published in an open and standardised format, so that it can be
used easily and with minimal cost by third parties.
Carlisle City Council's commitment to
transparency
As set out in our Code of Corporate Governance and Annual
Governance Statement, we will make sure that the authority, as a
whole, is open and accessible to the public, elected members and
our staff. We are committed to openness and transparency in all our
dealings, including partnerships.
What this means for us
From January 2011 Carlisle City Council has
been publishing on our website details of every supplier
payment of £500 or over (in monthly files), the job title of every
member of staff and which staff earn more than £58,200. We will
also be publishing structure charts as the transformation
(restructuring) process progresses.
Spend over £500
Carlisle City Council has followed the guidance published by
the LGA (external link) on publishing local spending data.
In line with the guidance, information will be redacted
(removed) if it is exempt under law, eg the Data Protection Act
1998, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 or the Environmental
Information Regulations 2004.
