A Community Plan for Carlisle

Community Plan for Carlisle and DistrictLaunch of our new Sustainable Community Strategy 2011-16

On Friday, 17 June 2011 a wholly new Community Plan for Carlisle was launched at the Carlisle Partnership's Annual General Meeting.

Following a successful year in which progress has been made under each priority area, we are keen to build on this good practice and widen the scope of our work by setting refreshed aims for the years ahead.

The Community Plan was drawn up via a series of workshops across the Partnership's Priority Working Groups and the full forum. Following these a number of consultative drafts were circulated across the partnership before a final version was recommended to Carlisle City Council by the Partnership's Executive. The Community Plan was adopted by the City Council at their January 2011 meeting.

The Community Plan 2011-16 provides an overall vision for Carlisle and outlines the Carlisle Partnership's Core Aims. In the coming years our Community Plan will focus our efforts on: Improving health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities across Carlisle; Delivering measured and long-term economic growth and performance; Keeping Carlisle as a safe place to live, work and visit; and Raising the aspirations and attainment of Children and Young People.

The Plan also provides some contextual information about Carlisle and outlines the Carlisle Partnership's structure and our approach to delivering the Community Plan.
