How is the Council's performance monitored?

Our performance is monitored by the Audit Commission, an independent public body that is responsible for ensuring that we spend your money economically, efficiently, and effectively. It monitors our performance in a number of ways including carrying out a Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) and annual audits (inspections). View our Annual Audit and Inspection Letter for 2004/05. We are also strengthening the ways in which we monitor our own performance, including how we use feedback from local people.

We are currently developing performance measures that will monitor progress towards our key priorities and drive service improvement. All performance measures are published in our Annual Performance Plan (Best Value Performance Plan).
