Monitoring performance
Our performance used to be monitored by the Audit
Commission (external link), an independent public body
that is responsible for ensuring that we spend your money
economically, efficiently, and effectively. In 2010 this form of
monitoring was abolished allowing the Council to concentrate on
areas that really make a different to the organisation and, more
importantly, the residents of and visitors to Carlisle.
We are also strengthening the ways in which we monitor our own
performance, including how we use feedback from local people.
The national Place Survey is a major part of this.
Following the disbandment of the National Indicator
Set we have developed performance measures that monitor
progress towards our key priorities, drive service improvement and
delivery of our Corporate Plan. All performance measures are
published in our Annual Performance Plan (previously Best Value
Performance Plan) but the latest report is below
