This gives a synopsis of the financial publications available.

Council Tax Summary
The guide shows the amount of money you pay in
Council Tax and shows the services it pays for in Carlisle City
Council, Cumbria County Council, Cumbria Police Authority and the
Parish Councils. Carlisle City Council collects the Council Tax for
all these authorities.
Financial Plan
The Financial Plan sets out detailed spending plans for the year
and broad forecasts of spending over a rolling five year
period.
Statement of Accounts
The City Council must prepare and publish a Statement of
Accounts annually. Its purpose is to give electors, local
taxpayers, Council Members, employees and other interested parties
clear information about the Council’s finances.
Audit Commission Reports
External audit is an essential element in the process of
accountability for public money and makes an important contribution
to the stewardship of public resources and the corporate governance
of public services.
Annual Audit Letter
The Audit Commission provide the authority with an Audit Letter
every year which reports the findings of their annual audit.
Annual Governance Reports
It includes the messages arising from the Audit Commissions
audit of the Council's financial statements and the results of the
work undertaken to assess the Council's arrangements to secure
value for money in it's use of resources.
Use of Resources Auditor Judgements
The annual Use of Resources (UoR) assessment evaluates how well
Councils manage and use their financial resources.
