Standards Committee
Carlisle City Council's Standards Committee was created in
response to the Local Government Act 2000. Its responsibility is to
promote high standards of ethical conduct among elected
councillors, independent and co-opted members. The Standards
Committee now also has responsibility for considering any complaint
that a member has breached the Members Code of Conduct.
If you would like to apply to become an Independant member of
the Standards Committee for Carlisle City Council you can find more
details along with an application form on our "Join the Standards Committee" page.
If you want to complain that a Councillor or co-opted member of
Carlisle City Council or a Councillor on any Town or Parish Council
within the District of Carlisle has failed to comply with the Code
of Conduct applicable to members of those Authorities, then you
should make your complaint in writing to:
The Chairman of the Standards Committee/Standards Sub-Committee
(initial assessment),
