Three Way Delegation.jpg)
Each year a delegation from the Local Authorities of each of our
three twin towns of Carlisle, Flensburg and Slupsk come together in
one of the aforesaid three towns. During the Three Way Delegation
an official meeting is held so the three Cities can discuss topics
relevant to each of the Cities.
In 2011 the Three Way Delegation took place in Flensburg over
the weekend of 21-25 July. The delegation had a very busy
schedule which included a visit to the City's Power Plant
Stadtwerke which provides electricity, hot water and central
heating to the whole City via what can only be termed as a high
performance network of pipes.
The City of Flensburg had arranged for delegates from the three
Cities to visit WiREG Technology Park which provided support for
new businesses. They also visited an urban redevelopment area,
water town and the redeveloped eastern old town and harbour.
The Cities annual Youth Exchange coincided with the Three
Way weekend and the Delegation had the opportunity to meet the
young people from the three Cities in the Artefact Power Park,
Glusburg.
Each year the Three Way Delegation hold an official meeting;
this year the Delegation held a workshop instead. The
workshop allowed the Delegation to discuss the future of Town
Twinning, what the three Cities common goals were and how the
partnership can be made stronger.
The visit concluded with an official dinner which took place in
the hotel Alter Meierhof which has wonderful views of Flensburg
Fjord.
