You should use the following link if your home is in Scotland,
or you are studying in Scotland, and you want to apply for tuition
fees, loan or grants for a higher education course such as a Higher
National Diploma or a degree.
Grants and awards
It is important to know what is available
to you in terms of grants or financial awards. These can vary
depending on your chosen university or college and your personal
circumstances. For more information about any of the support
available, you can contact the student advice centre at your chosen
university.
Overseas Research Students Awards Scheme
ORSAS was set up by the Secretary of State for Education and
Science in 1979 to attract high-quality international students to
the United Kingdom to undertake research. The Scheme is funded
through the four UK higher education funding bodies (for England,
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland).
ORSAS awards beyond 2009
The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and the
Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) will not be able
to fund ORSAS after 2009. This change applies to England and Wales
only; other UK Funding bodies have yet to make a decision about the
future of the ORSAS awards in Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
