Teenage pregnancy
Teenagers who become parents should not lose out on
opportunities for the future. Young parents should have the chance
to complete their education and prepare to support themselves and
their family.
In Cumbria, Secondary Schools, Cumbria County Council (external
link) and North Cumbria
Primary Care Trust (external link) are working together to
ensure that no young people, between the age of 13 - 18 years in
Cumbria will experience social exclusion as a result of being
pregnant or parenting.
Who do I contact about her education?
You should tell the teacher who has pastoral responsibilities
for her in school. This is usually her Head of Year or House Head.
The school remains responsible for her education.
