Building Control
Building Control
For Building Control purposes Carlisle District is split into two areas with a Principal Building Control Surveyor and a team of Building Control Surveyors assigned to each.
Carlisle City Council handles about 1,400 Building Control submissions each year. It is also responsible for the removal of dangerous structures, control of demolition, safety at sports grounds, access for disabled persons, Carlisle Shopmobility and street naming and numbering.
Carlisle City Council is dedicated to providing Architects, Builders and Developers with the best possible Building Control Service. We will do all we can to meet customer needs whilst still ensuring that building work continues to satisfy National Building Regulations.
Carlisle Building Control Surveyors have the technical expertise, the local knowledge and the willingness to assist you to overcome any Building Control problem that you may have. We will also help to co-ordinate your applications with other Local Authority services such as planning, highways, main drainage, environmental health as well as the Fire Authority.
We encourage preliminary discussions on projects as this can help to agree the design criteria at an early stage and therefore avoid costly alterations to schemes that are well advanced.
