Dog Control Orders

Carlisle City Council has introduced new enviro-laws to target the problems by unsupervised dogs.

New Dog Control Orders came into force on Monday 12 February 2007 and allow the Council's enforcement officers to ensure dogs are kept under proper supervision.

Fines of £50 can be issued to dow owners who dont follow the laws.

It is now an offence to:

  • Fail to remove dog faeces
  • Have a dog off the lead within the Carlisle district with the exception of parks and open spaces
  • Not put and keep a dog on a lead when directed to by a City Council enforcement officer.
