Local development framework

The Local Development Framework (LDF) sets out, in the form of a portfolio, the local development documents which collectively delivers the spatial planning strategy for the District. The LDF will also include supplementary planning documents which will expand policies set out in a development plan document, the statement of community involvement, the local development scheme and the annual monitoring report.

We intend to make a start on our core strategy in April 2008.

Local Development Scheme for Carlisle District

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) provides information on how Carlisle City Council intends to produce its Local Development Framework (LDF).

The LDS serves two purposes:

  • It sets out the planning policy documents that form the development plan for the Carlisle District area;
  • It also sets out the programme for the preparation of local development documents (LDDs) over a three year period including timetables for the various preparation stages of the LDDs
