Recovering your vehicle
You can get your car back if it has not been destroyed but only
if you pay Carlisle City Council's statutory charges and provide
evidence that you are the owner.
If your car was stolen and we have moved it your insurance
company will normally pay the costs.
You can contact us by telephone on 01228
817200.
Vehicle reclaim fees
Abandoned vehicles have a release fee of £105. After 24
hours of the uplift there is also a £12 per day storage charge
added to the release fee for each vehicle.
Untaxed vehicles have the following release

produced) |

If you pay a surety fee you can get this

When you pay to have the vehicle released, you
need to provide the Registration Certificate (V5C) and proof of
identity such as your photo card driving licence or passport
and a recent utility bill.
If you cannot produce the V5C you must also
provide documentation linking you to the vehicle such as a bill of
sale, a valid insurance document or an MOT certificate. We
will provide you with an ‘Application for a registration
certificate’ (V62). You must fill this in and pay a fee of
£25 by cheque or postal order.
