time.
The Environmental Health Section works to provide a better
environment and better lives for residents in Carlisle by providing
a range of services that include Food
Safety, Health and Safety, Pollution Control, Pest
Control, Air Quality and
Contaminated Land
Key Facts
Carlisle's Environmental Health Department regulates
approximately 1100 premises for food safety and 2500 premises under
the Health and Safety at Work Act. 50 premises require a permit
from the Council due to their potential to cause air pollution.
In 2010/11 we received 4,191 customer service enquiries which
ranged from complaints about noisy
neighbours to requests for pest control treatments. A total of
65 fixed penalty tickets were issued covering dog fouling, littering and fly
posting. 196 Statutory Notices were served ensuring safer food
businesses, protecting health and safety at work controlling
industrial pollution, repairing drainage and in protecting
welfare.
