Food Safety

The role of our Food, Health & Safety Team is to ensure the safety of food which is manufactured, processed, stored or sold within Carlisle and to ensure good working practices for food and health and safety matters.

We do this by:

• Registering food businesses and giving advice on food safety issues;
• Inspecting food businesses as part of the national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme;
• Dealing with food complaints and complaints of noise from food businesses; and
• Investigating cases of food poisoning and other Infectious Diseases.

We have an enforcement policy to ensure we are fair in our dealings with business (see below).
