Commercial
waste
All wastes produced by commercial businesses are classified as
commercial wastes (sometimes called 'trade wastes'). Unlike
household waste (the costs of which are included in a household's
Council Tax bill), the cost of collection of commercial waste is
not covered by business rates.
Carlisle City Council does not collect commercial waste. Please
contact a commercial trade waste contractor for this service.
Please do NOT use local recycling facilities for your trade
waste.
The cheapest and easiest way of dealing with your trade waste is
to reduce the amount you produce in the first place. There are lots
of ways a business can reduce the amount of waste it produces. The
simple practices of reduce, reuse and recycle can often make a
world of difference. To help you get started there are some good
practice guides are useful tips available at recycleforcumbria.org.
