Carlisle's Local Agenda 21 Plan
The 12 'Aims for a sustainable Carlisle'
- All the resources we use locally are used effectively and we
reduce waste
- We limit the pollution we produce by our everyday actions to
reduce damage to our environment
- We encourage the protection, variety and enhancement of nature
within our local environment
- Local needs are met locally
- Everyone has access to good healthy food, water, and fuel at
realistic cost
- Affordable housing is available to all
- Everyone should have the opportunity to undertake satisfying
work whether paid, unpaid or voluntary and that such work is fairly
rewarded and recognised by the local community
- Our health is protected by creating a safe, clean, pleasant
environment and health services which emphasize prevention of
illness as well as the proper care of the sick
- Equal access to all local services and other people is
available to everyone regardless of their circumstances
- We should have the right to live without fear of personal
violence, crime or persecution
- We should have access to the skills, knowledge and information
to let us play a full part in society
- Everyone should have the opportunity to take part in the
decisions that affect our community.
