Occupational Therapy
The
Community Occupational Therapy Service (external link) is run
by Cumbria County Council Adult Social Care.
Occupational Therapy is concerned with everyday
activities of life, enabling disabled people to participate in
their local communities and overcome lifestyle limitations
resulting from their disabilities.
Services that the Occupational Therapy team provide include:
- Providing assessments to disabled people living
at home.
- Assessing and arranging disability equipment
and housing adaptations
- Promoting the independence of people with a
range of disabilities.
There are also Occupational Therapists employed
by the National Health Service.
These therapists can:
- Enable people to be safely discharged from
hospital
- Provide rehabilitation, either in hospital or
in the community.
Where necessary, community occupational
therapists work together with NHS therapists to provide seamless
care.
