Fit To Grow
The Fit To Grow project in Currock began in April 2011 when the
City Council and Riverside Housing Association, with the help of
funding from the Healthy City initiative, began transforming an
overgrown and derelict allotment into a productive vegetable
garden.
The first growing session proved a notable success. Some
magnificent vegetables were grown and eaten. Novice gardeners are
now ready to take on larger plots. This will free up space for any
newcomers - individuals, community groups or more schools – who it
is hoped will come in.
Anyone interested in getting involved, as gardeners or mentors,
should contact the Neighbourhoods and Green spaces team at Carlisle
City Council on 01228 817453
