Additional Licensing for HMO's

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with paragraph 3(2) of Part Two of the Schedule to the Housing Act 2004 (Commencement No.5 and Transitional Provisions and Savings)(England) Order 2006, that from April 6th 2006 the area of Carlisle City Council deemed to be designated as an area subject to additional licensing in relation to Houses in Multiple Occupation registered under The City of Carlisle (Registration of Houses in Multiple Occupation) Control Scheme 1998.
 
Any person who owns, manages or lives in house in multiple occupation in the district should seek advice from Carlisle City Council, Private Sector Housing Services located at the address below as to whether their property is affected by this designation.
 
Application for licenses and general advice can be obtained from Carlisle City Council at the address set out below.
 
The City of Carlisle (Registration of Houses in Multiple Occupation) Control Scheme 1998, referred to in the above can be inspected at the same address.
 
Any person having control of, or managing a house in multiple occupation which should be licensed, but which is not, commits a criminal offence. On conviction, the maximum fine, which can be levied, is £20,000.
