Cumbria Choice is go
Cumbria Choice launched at the beginning of May 2011. You
can now register to apply for social housing across Cumbria using
only one application form, and using only one website.
The Cumbria Choice website, www.cumbriachoice.org.uk, is
now up and running, where you can browse and apply
for properties across Cumbria.
There are several ways of applying for properties through
Cumbria Choice. These include:
- Visiting our website at www.cumbriachoice.org.uk
- Using the automated telephone line and calling 0300 011
2160
- Sending an SMS Text Message to 07537 402596
- Contacting a housing provider on the general office number from
the contact list at the end of this guide.
- Making a 'bid' in person at the Offices of a housing
provider.

Cumbria Choice explained....
Under Cumbria Choice, customers only need to
complete one application form to be able to apply for any
advertised property in Cumbria. Priority will still be given to
those with a local connection, although 10% of properties will be
made available to people who wish to move across local authority
areas.
Although it will not increase the numbers of
homes available, Cumbria Choice provides a more transparent way of
letting homes, as well as giving people more choice over where they
would prefer to live.

Consultation...
The consultation period for the new Cumbria
Choice Scheme ended on 30th April 2010.
You can read the Cumbria Choice consultation report at the
bottom of the screen.
Social housing tenants and those on housing
association waiting lists will shortly be contacted to re-register
for the scheme. New customers can request an application form from
any participating housing association.
