Homelessness Advice and Information

Avoiding Homelessness

If you think you are in danger of losing your home, please call 01228 817079, e-mail: Housing@carlisle.gov.uk or complete an Online enquiry form.  Alternatively, you can visit us at the Civic Centre.  A member of the homelessness team will be available from Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 12 noon and 1:30 pm to 4 pm (except for Bank Holidays).

We will try to help you keep your home

  • by talking to your landlord
  • by arranging mediation or support
  • or look at other ways of helping you

If all else fails and you have no where to stay and are in priority need group, then Carlisle City Council will provide temporary hostel accommodation until your application can be assessed and a decision reached on your homeless application.

For more information see how your application will be assessed and your rights as an applicant in downloads below.

London Road Hostel can accommodate up to 10 households (approximately 25 bed spaces) for families/females.
