Immigration Inspections
Applicants wishing to immigrate to the UK may be required to
provide a report to the British High Commission on Housing
Conditions to accompany there application. The report must confirm
that
- the property they intend to live in has been inspected
- the property is accepted for occupation under the Housing Act
2004
- the property will not become overcrowded if they live
there
Carlisle City Council is able to offer this service. It is not a
statutory function so a fee of £65.00 is now payable from September
2008 for the inspection and the report to be produced. The fee and
application form must be submitted before an inspection is
undertaken. An application form can be downloaded below.
It is important that you provide all the information requested
on the form. If you do not there is a possibility the High
Commission will not accept the letter or that the letter is
inaccurate.
Please note that the accommodation must be owned or occupied
exclusively by you or your family. Rented accommodation, which is
shared with members of another family, is not acceptable.
After receiving your completed form and cheque an officer will
contact you in order to arrange a mutually convenient time to
undertake an inspection at the property. During the inspection the
officer will need to look round the whole property and you will be
asked to outline who occupies the house, and in which rooms they
sleep in.
Once the Council has received your completed form and necessary
fee we will aim to make a visit and provide the letter within 10
working days.
