Unpostscripted: An exhibition by Colin Beck
Colin describes his work with these words: "The self approval of these figures continually combined appearance remain undaunted in their ability never to stray to any other notion that will devastate their meaning for long. Condemned day after day to a future they never speak of. At the very least all I can say is they come already woken and I can do nothing but let them stand the epitaph of that which stalks out of my bedroom every morning impartial and alone from the test of making the curtains fully open."

CWAAS Lecture: The Furness Viking Hoard
CWAAS - Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian and Archaeological Society. In 2011 a metal detectorist made a very unexpected find: Viking treasure. It is the first time that a significant amount of valuable Viking booty has been recovered from the Furness soil that indisputably links the area with the Norse mariners. The 92 silver coins and artefacts – among them ingots and one near-complete silver bracelet – have been examined by the British Museum. It is thought that the silver was put into the ground sometime around 955 AD when the Viking invaders had established footholds in the north of England. Dot Boughton is Finds Liaison Officer for Lancashire and Cumbria, based at Preston.
