Carlisle Countryside Volunteer Team
The Carlisle Countryside Volunteer Team are a group of
enthusiastic volunteers who meet up every other Monday to carry out
practical conservation tasks in the countryside sites around the
city of Carlisle.
The team plays an important role in the conservation of the
city's countryside sites, carrying out tasks such as hay meadow
management, coppicing, footpath management, pond clearance and
boardwalk construction.
All are welcome to join the group. It is a great chance get to
know new people, learn new skills and contribute towards the
conservation of Carlisle's wildlife.
The group meets at 10am on site, and the day would normally
finish at approximately 3pm. Each work day will be based at
different countryside sites around the city. We are unable to
provide transport to site, however all sites are within walking or
cycling distance from the city centre and car parking will be
available. We will provide you with a clear map and directions
which will be download able from this page.
Carlisle City Council will provide you with all the tools and
equipment you will need on the day and even teas and coffees! We
just ask that you bring you own waterproof gear, steel toe cap
boots or wellies a packed lunch and plenty of enthusiasm.
The work programme below will be regularly updated to let
