Cummersdale Holmes
Location
Cummersdale Holmes lies in between
Cummersdale and Denton Holme, alongside the River Caldew, just
south of the City of Carlisle. Pedestrian access to Cummersdale Holmes can be gained from
Holme Head Way.
- From Low Cummersdale, near Stead McAlpin's
print works, you can walk along the River Caldew, along the cycle
way to Cummersdale Holmes.
- From High Cummersdale you can walk
along the lonning adjacent to the Pirelli factory, down to
Cummersdale Holmes and the Caldew.
Facilities

There is a river bank footpath and
the Dalston to Carlisle Cycle Way providing a circular walk
offering a tranquil respite just a stone's throw from
the hustle and bustle of Carlisle's busy city centre.
Cummersdale Holmes is now a
floodwater storage zone and may well be either underwater or very
wet underfoot, especially during the Cumbrian Monsoon season.
Please take great care as some of the river banks are quite
severely undercut through river erosion, making them prone to
collapse. This is part of the natural processes of river
channel morphology, adding to the habitat and wildlife diversity of
the area.
Park Opening Times: All day, every
day.
