Melbourne Park
lies off the Warwick Road, just east of the City Centre, flanking
the River Petteril. This 28 hectare Park extends as far
south as the merged Newcastle and the Carlisle Settle Railway Lines
at Durranhill.
To the east of the Park is Botcherby, with access points off
Warwick Road, Walkmill Crescent, Ennerdale Avenue, Borland Avenue
and Botcherby Avenue.
To the west is St Aidans, with park access points off Warwick
Road, Riverside Way, Nook Street, Raven Street, Melbourne Road and
Adelaide Street.
You can also access the park, with care, along the informal
pathways along the River Petteril from the south off the London
Road.
Facilities
- The Petteril Valley Cycle Way runs north - south through
Melbourne Park with adjoining links from Botcherby Avenue and
Adelaide Street.
- There are two children's play areas, one near Borland Avenue,
and one near Melbourne Road.
- Five full sized football pitches, and two junior football
pitches, and a changing pavilion.
- Floodlit Multi Use Games Area / Ball Court.
- Allotments.
- Wildlife Conservation Area.
