Carlisle City Council’s wonderful parks and green spaces host a
wide variety of events and activities throughout the year. The
following upcoming events are all FREE unless otherwise stated.
Saturday 3 July
Talkin Tarn Regatta, 9am to 5pm. Come and watch as Talkin Tarn
Amateur Rowing Club host their famous annual regatta.
Monday 5 July
Guided walk in Melbourne Park, 6.30pm. Join the Friends of
Melbourne Park for a pleasant evening stroll. Meet at Botcherby
Community Centre at 6.30pm for some light refreshments - the walk
will start at 7pm and last approximately one hour.
Tuesday 6 July
Tuesday Trundle - High Stand, near Armathwaite, 10am. Approximately
3.8 miles of 'medium' grade walking, estimated to take around 2 -
2½ hours. Meet at High Stand car park. (Grid. Ref: NY 496 484)
Monday 12 July
River Petteril clean-up and litter pick at Melbourne Park, 6.30pm
to 8.30pm. Help the Friends of Melbourne Park, Eden Rivers Trust
and Carlisle City Council clean up the river and its surroundings
in Melbourne Park. Meet at the BMX track near the centre of the
park. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.
Wednesday 14 July
Health Walk at Stanwix Bank and Etterby, 1pm. Meet in front of The
Sands Centre, Carlisle, for this easy graded one hour guided walk,
suitable for pushchairs. (Grid. Ref: NY 402 563)

Love Parks Week. Nine
days of events and activities for all ages and interests across the
parks and green spaces of Carlisle, including:
- Poetry Picnic in the Park
- Jazz Picnic in the Park
- Grow it. Cook it. Eat it - down on the allotment
- Nature in the Park
- Flicks in Bitts
- Tai Chi in the Park
- Pedal in the Park
- Guided Walks and lots more!

Wednesday 28 July
Lakes Alive 'Into the Woods' at Talkin Tarn - 2pm to 7pm. A nature
trail with a difference as your woodland visit comes alive with
strolling performances, shows and installations for the whole
family to enjoy.
Saturday 18 September
Wetland bulb
planting at Hammond's Pond, 10am. Meet outside the café and join
the Friends of Hammond's Pond to plant bulbs ready for Spring.
Friday 29 October
Halloween at Hammond's Pond - 5pm to 7pm. Meet outside the café and
join the Friends of Hammond's Pond for Halloween treats. There may
be a small charge for this event.
Sunday 31 October
Halloween Trembling Tales and Trails at Talkin Tarn. Please contact
Talkin Tarn Country Park on 016977 3129 for further details nearer
the time. There may be a small charge for this event.
Saturday 6 November
Carlisle Fireshow at Bitts Park. The greatest Fireshow in the
North. A fantastic 'circus' themed show set to music and featuring
a pyrotechnic display and fireworks second to none.
Saturday 27 November to Sunday 5
December
National Tree Week. A great chance to help

Saturdays and Sundays 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19
December
Santa's Grotto, Talkin Tarn, 11am to 3pm. Please contact Talkin
Tarn Country Park on 016977 3129 for further details nearer the
time. There may be a small charge for this event.

Park Walks are short, free guided walks around
Carlisle's hidden gems at a pace that suits you. Guided Health
Walks off er the first steps to a healthier lifestyle with a
programme of free, easy one hour walks. All are on good paths but
please wear sensible footwear and suitable outdoor clothing.
Tuesday Trundles provide opportunities for
longer, harder walks for those who are ready for more exertion.
Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing suited to the
