Fit For Life Exercise Referral
Fit For Life is a series of supervised exercise sessions for
people who have conditions that would benefit from increasing their
physical activity.
Who can attend?
Anyone with conditions like asthma, diabetes, osteoporosis,
arthritis, overweight and joint problems are all eligible to join
the scheme.
How do I get involved?
To join the Fit For Life programme you need to talk to your GP
or practice nurse and ask them if supervised activity would benefit
your health. If they agree this would help, they will fill in a
referral form for you. You then need to contact Geoff Haugh at
the Sands Centre,Tel: 01228 625625, to
make an appointment for your first visit.
What happens on the first visit?
The instructor will sit down with you and go through the
referral form asking questions to clarify things on the form. You
may be asked other questions regarding what activity you currently
do if any and what you are hoping to achieve by participating in
activity. They will explain how the programme works and then start
the exercises with you and the rest of the class.
