Carlisle City Council provides opportunities for people to get more involved in Sport and Physical Activity.
On the sports web pages you will find details of Carlisle's Strategy for the delivery of Sport & Recreation across the City, information on participation courses and training that are being held as well as details of all the sports clubs in and around Carlisle.
There is additional information regarding coaching courses and resources and also any non sports specific training courses being run locally such as Equity in your coaching, Good practice and Child protection and FUNdamentals of movement.
In 2008 Carlisle City Council's Sport and Recreation section were successful in achieving a 'Highly Commended' Quest quality mark. Quest is the UK quality scheme for Sport and Leisure. Quest defines the industry standards and good practice and encourages their application and development in a customer-focused management framework.

The PMP Ltd sports facility feasibility study was commissioned by Carlisle City Council to look at the current facility provision and what potential there was for future development. A range of individuals and clubs were consulted as part of the work including users of Carlisle City Council leisure facilities.
