Botcherby By Election results

The Botcherby Carlisle City Council By Election was held on Thursday, 7 January. Polling stations were open between 7am and 10pm. The By-Election count was held at the Harraby Community Hub soon after the polls closed at 10pm.

Total number of eligible Botcherby Ward electors: 4,185

Total number of polling stations: Four                           

 

Results:

Candidate Name                                                                              

Robert Gordon Currie (The Conservative Party Candidate):115 votes cast

John Paton (Independent): 381 votes cast (Independent gain - 131 majority)

Stephen Ronald Sidgwick (The Labour Party Candidate): 250 votes cast

Spoilt votes: 2

Total number of votes cast: 748

The turnout was: 17.8%

 

Following the By-Election:

The City Council has 52 Councillors, comprising 28 Labour Councillors, 20 Conservative Councillors, three Independent Councillors and one Liberal Democrat Councillor. Each Councillor serves one of 22 wards.
