City Wheels and Rural Wheels
Cumbria County Council tries to ensure that as many people as
possible have regular access to some form of public transport in
their area. In a predominantly rural area with a
dispersed population, such as Cumbria is, this can present a number
of practical and financial difficulties.
City Wheels is a scheme that provides
wheelchair accessible transport for people living in Carlisle city
who are unable to use public transport due to a mobility
difficulty. The door-to-door transport is available for travel
within the city boundary on Monday to Friday between 9am and
5pm.
Rural Wheels is a unique transport scheme for
people in rural areas. The service provides transport that will
collect you from home and take you to your nearest town or the
nearest Public Transport service.
